Me. 😀 That’s right, I am the first Certified Aromatherapist in Guam.
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here, but I’ve been hard at work tackling a passion project of mine – becoming a Certified Aromatherapist – the first in Guam.
I have a mug that sits in my office (I use it for pens) that says, “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.” I love this mug, because it describes me to a tee!
You may know that I’ve been using essential oils now for several years, and since I love to learn and read about new things, it was only natural that I would eventually dive into essential oil education – especially since I’ve already incorpored essential oil use in my nutrition practice.
With the positive benefits I’d experienced using essential oils, and observed in both family and clients, I became even more curious about these wonderful gifts from nature.
As a life-long learner, I started reading up about essential oils. How they’re sourced, what part of the plant they come from, why different parts of plants offer different benefits…I couldn’t get enough!
I’ve had my eye on the Aromatherapy Certification Program at Aromahead Institute for YEARS. Having taken several of Andrea Butje’s classes, I knew what her teaching style was, and how easy the course would be to navigate. When she had an enrollment special, I couldn’t resist – I jumped in feet first and didn’t look back!
I learned a ton about essential oils in the class. We covered the chemistry behind why oils work, how to choose what oils are best for what one is trying to accomplish, and even tackled making my own personal care products! I had a blast!
My program required a research paper and 20 case studies, and I feel much more confident in my blending and knowledge of essential oils as a result of accomplishing these requirements.
I know which oils to recommend and how to blend them for the best results, and have even added aromatherapy consultations to my services.
